Greetings,

Well here it is, the end has come for this amazing photographic journey. I started the year with a picture of shooting in the new year and decided to bring it to an end in the same way.

Wow, it has been quite the journey! I can honestly say that I had no real concept of just how challenging and rewarding a photo a day for a year challenge would be when I started a year ago today. This blog has forced me to be creative and push my own abilities in circumstances that were, at times, very challenging indeed. While it has been tough the rewards have been well worth the blood, sweat, and tears (literally at times) that went into creating the 300+ images on this blog. Throughout this last year of blogging my skills and scope as a photographer have greatly increased, though, I must say, once was enough for a very long time. ๐Ÿ™‚

I want to personally thank all of my faithful viewers who made this blog a success, with over 51,000 views, almost 430 comments, and over 30 e-mail & RSS subscribers this blog has been far more successful then I had hoped, for which I am very grateful. It is not an exaggeration to say that your support kept this blog from disappearing under the weight of an increasingly busy life. As a special thank you I decided to hold a giveaway as a way of giving back to my faithful viewers who through their support made this blog happen.

Yes, you heard me right, I am holding a special giveaway, open to all who visit this blog, in which one person will walk away with their choice of one of three great prizes:

Pearstone Shutter Boss Remote
I have not owned this item very long but I am already finding it very useful. While it is not as high quality as the Canon version, it does provide a very economical way to experiment with time lapses, super long exposures, and custom self timer lengths. Really a great product which comes in different version to provide full compatibility for either Canon or Nikon.

4Sevens Quark Flashlight
A powerful, versatile flashlight which, I am sure, will become an important accessory for anyone.

K & A Soaps Assorted Gift Set
My sisters started their own business this year creating excellent, natural soaps that are a beautiful blend of presentation, fragrance, and practical cleaning ability. I am not 100% sure what will be in this set at the moment but it will be well worth the winning. ๐Ÿ™‚

To enter all you need to do is leave a comment on this post before Midnight of January 9th and I will pick the winner through a random drawing on Monday the 10th.

Thank you all again for your support during this year and be sure to comment, you just might win one of these fun prizes.

God Bless & a Happy New Years to you!
~Josiah

  1. Ahhhh, I love this picture! ๐Ÿ˜€ Now I want to go out and shoot guns. Something I never get to do. My youngest brother received a Tuarus airsoft pistol for Christmas, and BOTH of my brothers keep disappearing outside to go shoot it. I haven’t had my hands on it yet, but I should take a turn soon. ๐Ÿ˜€

I got a little bit of money from my grandparents for Christmas, so that went into my camera fund. I think I’m about halfway to getting a camera!!! I know that you use the Canon 7D, and that’s what I was thinking about getting. Isn’t that camera supposed to be optimal for still photography AND videos? I keep hearing two sides of a debate about the 5D vs. the 7D…but at different times, so it’s hard to keep it all straight in my head to compare people’s opinions. ๐Ÿ˜€

P.S. I bought some of your sistersโ€™ soap for my momโ€™s birthday (Jan. 9!) and I canโ€™t wait to give it to her! It smells so good! And sheโ€™s going to love the fact that itโ€™s made from goatโ€™s milk. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Oh,oh… pick me, pick me. Actually, I have enjoyed the plethora of images you have provided on your site. Thank you for capturing the glory of Our Father’s world, family and the Mind of the Maker.

Looking forward to more of your work. God bless!

  3. Um I want to win! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Congratulations Josiah, you made it to the end of he year! What you have don is just amazing! Your photographs have improved tremendously over he course of the year, and you have inspired me to do my own photography 365 progect.

I pray that the Lord will cross our paths in 2011.

    God bless!

  5. I have been following your blog for nearly 8 months. Josiah, I have to tell you that during this time, I have enjoyed looking at your imagery, especially the images that feature the countryside. I currently live in Omaha NE, but grew up in a city just outside of New York City. The contrast between these two locales is dramatic. My current home is near plenty of farmland and rolling hills. Your images have helped me to see the beauty in areas surrounding me. Its easy to get caught up in rush of our daily lives, thanks for giving me a “time out” each day.
ps. thanks to your endurance, I am over the hump of starting my own blog about photography on word press.
God Bless you, my unknown friend.

  6. Josiah,
I have really enjoyed looking at your photos. They have inspired me to try to become a better photographer.

    Thanks again,
    Stephen Horn

  7. Oh, is that all? I guess was expecting more of an announcement.

Seriously though, I’ve enjoyed your photography. Thanks for keeping this blog going! Keep taking great pictures!

  8. Hi Josiah,

Congratulations on making it to the end! I did my own project 365 last year but only managed 356 photos throughout the year. This year I plan on getting a 100% success rate while also improving the quality of my images. I need to make sure they’re interesting!

I have thoroughly enjoyed your photos, and please let us know if you continue to do it for the next year (I hope you do). You always inspire me and make me think about different images I could take, instead of the usual “snapshot-no-thought-involved” photos I managed to take about halfway through.

Thank you for sharing your life with us.

  9. Congrats on completing the 365, Josiah!

I’m hoping to be able to upgrade to a nicer camera body sometime…maybe a 7D and who knows, maybe a full frame as well (1Ds Mk III!…or a 5D Mk II or III?) a long time in the future. Speaking of which, have you done any video work with your 7D?

I’m still disappointed that I wasn’t able to get a 24-70L and more for $650…

  10. Hi Josiah,

    Great pictures!

The year is finally over. Now you can rest. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you have a wonderful year.

  11. We’ll miss you, Josiah!!! Thanks for sticking to it…

  13. Hey Josiah! I’ve been following this blog ever since I met you in San Antonio in October. Love your work and I hope to see you again soon! Hopefully not in a stress related project again ๐Ÿ˜‰

  16. Wow, your blog is pretty inspiring! I might just try a photo-a-day section on my site… But I think I have photographed every square inch accessible to me already ๐Ÿ˜‰

  17. My how the year flew by! It doesn’t seem like that long ago when you launched this blog. Thanks for sticking to it! Your dedication and persistence is an inspiration to all of us.
