Good Morning,

While returning from TN through the beautiful mountains of VA we stopped for gas a few miles off the interstate. On our return to the interstate, after successfully completing our re-fueling mission, we came across a neat little picnic area in the heart of the mountains. After 8 hours of driving we all felt that a little time spent exploring a group of interesting foundations there, wading in the beautiful mountain stream, and, of course, shoot a few fun portraits wouldn’t be the worse idea. Now I have to admit, I had not yet taken my photo for the day so part of the impetus for the stop was my need for an interesting picture. 🙂

This is probably my favorite portrait that I have taken of my sister Abigail to date. The sun was setting behind the the trees casting a beautifully diffused light over everything. Seeing that I was not in a position to do any complex flash or diffuser work this was ideal for a straight up portrait with the kit 18-55mm.

Enjoy!
