Good Morning,

Here is a shot I took last night of my brother Jonathan, with his beautiful wife Monique, and Elise, their three-week old baby. We had a birthday party for me and I contemplated putting up a picture of Philip and I with his amazing Death by Chocolate cake, but I think this happy family will be a lot easier on your eyes. 🙂

I took this shot by first exposing for the background and rim lighting and then used my remote flash, with a diffuser, to change this from virtually a silhouette into a nicely balanced image.. This is a very powerful technique that works even better when the flash is fired into a reflector to soften the light out even more.

Enjoy!

  3. Thank you Mrs. Noor! I am very happy that I was able to achieve the look that I was after to capture the essence off my brother, the hard working farmer, his beautiful bride, and their wonderful baby daughter.

Thank you Jayne, I don’t believe we have met but I value your praise, particular because you have some simply beautiful imagery on your blog that speaks to your skill as a photographer.

  4. This is a great photo! Thanks for taking it!
Hey, there’s this photo and several other farm pictures on your site that I was wondering if you minded if I used on my blog, providing I give proper credit?

  5. Thanks Jon! I am glad you like it.

Feel free to use any pictures on this site, in fact, if you just save the image off this blog it will already have my name watermarked on it so no additional credit needs to be given.

  6. A belated congrats to you all on the birth of Susan Elise (I’m doing some catch up here)!

This is a wonderful photo–the lighting of the background and their smiles. 🙂
