Good Evening,

On the last day of March I bring you the first flower picture, how’s that for the ending of a long, harsh winter? 🙂

I shot this image at noon using a polarizing filter, though, shooting straight into the sun like this basically negates its primary effect, still, it did help preserve me eyes somewhat. In Post I used curves to up the contrast some what, with another curves layer to boost the brightness of the flowers as the dynamic range was too great to preserve the sunburst and the flower’s brightness at the same time. The biggest edit to this picture was the use of Photoshop’s Hue/Saturation/Lightness tool to selectively saturate and bright/darken the different primary colors of the image. Some sharpening using the very effect High Pass technique completed the effect.

Enjoy!

  1. Ouch! My eyes are hurting so much that I have trouble reading what you wrote.

  2. Wow Josiah! The picture is beautiful; I really love the color of the sky-such a brilliant blue!
    Finally-spring has come at last!!!!

  3. Okay, for some reason, that comment says that Jon authored it.
I must not have been paying attention to whose e-mail was typed in. . .
