Camera:Canon EOS 40D

Good Evening,

In case you were wondering, the exposure time on the left is not correct, 1,093″ is actually the correct exposure time, yes, you heard correctly, 18.2 minutes! If you have never tried super long exposures like this I would advise you to try it out sometime. As a word of advice, the Long Exposure NR feature in your camera actually takes as long as the exposure time to process, crazy I know! Also, to get this sharp of a picture use a tripod (duh!), a remote shutter release (the timer will work about as well), mirror lock-up, and make sure that the IS on your lens is off.

I increased the brightness significantly in post, a longer exposure would have been better, but, the exposure was pure guesswork and it was too late to shoot another shot. I increased the contrast quite a bit as well to really make the stars pop and, you guessed it, I did some pretty heavy NR! Though, I will say, I was quite surprised that the noise level was actually not that bad at all.

Enjoy!
