Good Evening,

Here is a quick shot I took today of the beautiful icicles hanging off the edge of the roof at work. Sadly, I rushed this photo shoot a little more than was good, probably because I was thinking too much about the Greek translation assignment I still needed to do during what remained of my lunch break. 🙂

I took this using my 70-200mm with a circular polarizing filter, a critical component for maintaining detail throughout the wide dynamic range present in this image. In post used a duplicate layer with the blend mode set to multiply at 40% opacity. I then used curves to put some brightness back into this picture and polished it off with some sharpening.

Enjoy!

  1. This is my favorite picture so far! Probably this is a result of a strong attachment to icicles and dark blue sky. I especially like how you shot the icicles on an angle instead of vertically (which usually is not very inspiring).

  2. Great picture.
